Indianapolis Motor Speedway
I was lucky enough to help chaperone my daughter's 4th grade class last week at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Since moving to Indiana almost 15 years ago, I have been able to attend both the Indy 500 and the Brickyard 400 but have never spent any time inside of the famed oval. It was very interesting to learn about the history of both the speedway and the different races that have been held there. My first memory of the Greatest Spectacle on Earth was watching at home with my dad, just waiting for the call, "Gentlemen, start your engines"! My dad would proceed to turn the television volume on full blast, to have the sweet sound of 33 different engines revving up in a tizzy.
The Indy 500 was always a big deal growing up, even though I was in Puerto Rico. Along with the Masters, the World Series and the Kentucky Derby, it was appointment television in our house.
It was great to experience the Speedway behind the scenes. Here are a few pictures from the day.
Can't forget about the cars in the museum. This was my favorite part! Slideshow time!
